Infant Room
In our Infants Room, the teachers will help the children reach for developmental milestones that are age appropriate, for example, rolling over, reaching and holding toys, sitting up, crawling, walking, self feeding and holding a bottle, transitioning from bottle to sippy cup, and age appropriate language skills. A variety of classical, Christian, and children music is played in the room. Stories are read to the children each day. Age appropriate and Administrative Director approved videos are played up to a maximum of two hours per week. Children have the opportunity to play with the teachers as well as play in a bouncy seat, swing, exersaucer and on the floor. Children in the Infants Room eat and nap according to their own individual schedules.
Around the time children start transitioning to the Younger Ones Room, we ask that they be in the process of transitioning or are ready to use sippy cups, eat age appropriate table foods, and take one nap after lunch.
Younger Ones/Older Ones Rooms
The children in our Younger Ones Room experience a curriculum that includes a different theme each month where they are encouraged to learn through play and hands on exploration. Use of the sensory table, painting, play-dough, legos, riding toys, cause and effect toys are just a few things with which the children will participate. Our one-year-old Bible curriculum includes songs and stories from the Baby Bible Stories About Jesus. Teachers encourage and assist children in meeting developmental milestones including, but not limited to walking, drinking from a sippy cup, self-feeding, communicating using words and sign-language, and understanding simple directions.
The curriculum and Bible time in the Older Ones Room is similar to that of the Younger Ones Room. However, in the Older Ones Room, children are introduced to bi-monthly themes including colors and shapes, bugs, animals, nursery rhymes etc. The teachers work with the children as they get ready to make the transition into the Two-year-old Room. Some of the milestones we hope to help children reach by the time they leave for the Two-year old Room are:
- Combining two-three words, "More juice"
- Points to familiar objects
- Removes own coat
- Helps carry and put things away
- Scribbles with crayons
- Builds two block tower
- Repeats simple songs, finger plays
- Uses 50 recognizable words
Two Year Old Room
In the Two Year Old Room the teachers introduce a different theme each month where the children learn through play and exploration. The Bible curriculum focuses on a different story each week from the "God Loves Me” curriculum. Stories songs, finger-plays, art free play, outside time, fine motor and gross motor skill activities are all just a few of the things our two-year-olds participate in during the day.
We support parents when they make the decision to begin toilet training their child. It is important to remember that children need consistency at home and at school to make this time successful. Each child develops differently and on their own schedule.
As children transition to the 3'School Room we hope that they will be able to demonstrate the following developmental milestones:
- Carries on "conversation” with self and dolls
- Stays with an activity 5-7 minutes
- Plays along side another child
- Builds 6-7 block tower
- Places circle, square and triangle pieces into puzzle
- Runs ten feet without falling
- Kicks large ball
- Jumps with both feet in place
- Washes hands with assistance
- Uses 3-5 word sentences
- Talks about recent experiences
- Uses 500 recognizable words
- Plays "with” other children
- Enjoys helping adults
- Stacks and nests objects of different sizes
- Verbalizes toilet needs
- Asks "wh” questions (i.e. what? where? why?)
